Shed Fire - 07/05/08 - Farmington, NM

I went down to Farmington to do a little fire buffing over July 3rd and July 4th, 2008. Both days hold a tremendous amount of potential for fire activity. While the 3rd did not yield much but fireworks complaints, San Juan County and units from the three municipalities (Farmington, Aztec, and Bloomfield) were kept busy starting at about 22:30 hours. With bombs bursting in air and dispatch banging out alarms at a rapid pace, it was hard to pick which incidents to chase.

At 02:01 hours on July 5th, 2008 Farmington Fire units were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 1700 North Mesa Verde Avenue. Units arrived to find a shed fire in the alley between North Mesa Verde Avenue and North Cochiti Avenue. The shed, woodpile, power pole, and other assorted combustibles that were burning were located behind a North Cochiti property. FFD “A” Shift Engines 5, 1, and 4, Ladders 1 and 2, under the command of Acting Battalion Chief Vince Lawing, arrived on scene and made short work of the fire.
