Brush Fire - 02/15/09 - Bloomfield, NM

On February 15th, 2009 at approximately 1340 hours, the Bloomfield Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a brush fire behind the Best Western Hotel at 415 South Bloomfield Boulevard. First arriving units encountered a fast moving fire in a field of light fuels. This area of Bloomfield is no stranger to blazes, having been the scene of a number of large brush fires in years past. Mutual aid was requested from San Juan County Fire Districts 6 (Lee Acres) and District 9 (Sullivan Road). Units provided structural protection on the north side of the fire in the area of James Circle and Frontier Street and south side off of Callie del Rio. The three departments eventually contained the incident to approximately 10 acres.
