Texas Fire Museum

The Texas Fire Museum was founded in August 1999 to preserve the old Dallas Fire Department Maintenance Facility and to establish a fire apparatus museum that serves as an educational resource for the community. Presently, they have over 60 antique apparatus on display. The Texas Fire Museum works in conjunction with the Dallas Firefighters Museum and the North Texas Historical Fire Society (SPAAMFAA) Chapter with the restoration and preservation of antique fire apparatus. This is a great collection of apparatus in various stages of restoration and is definitely worth the trip. I have to thank their treasurer, Scott Simpson for taking me on an entertaining and educational tour of the facility. The museum is located at the old City of Dallas Fire Department Maintenance Facility, 2600 Chalk Hill Road, Dallas, Texas 75212. Their website is www.texasfiremuseum.org.
