Barn Fire - 08/11/11 - Durango, CO


 


 

On August 11th, 2011 at 1329 hours, Durango Fire & Rescue Authority (DFRA) units were dispatched to 30 Timber Lane (in the 5000 block of County Road 213) for a report of a fire in the barn. DFRA Fire Marshal Tom Kaufman was the first to arrive on scene and reported a working fire. Acting Battalion Chief Koby Westerholm arrived on scene and assumed command of the incident. DFRA Engine One, led by Acting Captain Josh Lorenzen, deployed a 1¾” attack line and started suppressing the fire.

Lorenzen, along with Firefighter Charles Talley, were able to contain the fire to the barn’s contents before it spread to the structure itself. DRFA Medic 1, Brush 32, Tanker 1 and Tanker 4 also responded to this incident. Personnel overhauled the scene while Fire Marshal Kaufman conducted the investigation into the origin and cause of the fire.
