Fatal Structure Fire - 04/02/12 - Cedar Hill, NM


 




 

On April 2nd, 2012 at 03:07 hours, San Juan County, NM firefighters were dispatched to the area of US Highway 550 and County Road 2475 for a report of a structure fire. Units from District #3 (Cedar Hill) and District #7 (Center Point) arrived to find a 1 story, single family dwelling at 22 County Road 2475 well involved in fire. Mutual aid apparatus from the Aztec Fire Department, and District #2 (Flora Vista) also responded.


 

While the fire was knocked down shortly after firefighters arrived on scene, the stubborn blaze took about 90 minutes to extinguish. Once conditions allowed, a primary search of the structure was conducted and firefighters discovered that a fatality had occurred in the building. The incident is under investigation by the SJCFD Fire Investigation Task Force, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, and the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator.
