Structure Fire – 08/29/14 – Durango, CO

Durango Firefighters made short work of a house fire that occurred on August 29th, 2014 in an older residential area of the city. The Durango Fire District was dispatched to 801 East 7th Avenue at 04:06 hours for a report of a fire in the basement at that location. Engine Company 2 and EMS 1 arrived on scene and reported a smoke showing from a 2-story house. As the initial Incident Commander made a 360⁰ walk-around of the fire building, a hose line was stretched to the “walk-out” basement door on the “Charlie” side of the home. After arrival, Battalion 1 took command of the incident. He reported a Working Fire. Captain 2 conveyed that the wall on the “Charlie” side, above the basement door, appeared to be compromised ready to collapse. The bulk of the fire was knocked down by the first arriving companies. DFD’s fire investigator was called to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
