Newark Firehouses

I was out one day back in May of 1978 trying out some Black & White photography and shot a few of Newark’s firehouses. Shown here are Rescue 1 and Truck 1’s Quarters on Mulberry Street at the corner of Lafayette (gone but not forgotten); Engine 6 & Deputy 1’s House at Springfield Avenue & Hunterdon Street; the stone work on the front of Engine 6 & Deputy 1’s House; Engine 8’s Quarters at Ferry & Fillmore Streets; Engine 20’s Quarters at 15 Prince Street (I believe Tactical Unit #1 was housed here at the time of the photo); Engine 26, Engine 21, & Truck 12’s House at the intersection of Stanford Avenue & Palm Street in the “Burg;” and some signage at the Training Academy on Jersey Street.
