While I was in Indianapolis for the Fire Department Instructors Conference, I managed to track down the location of the Bob & Tom Show. The show is hosted by Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold; they are joined by Chick McGee who acts as sports commentator as well as comic foil, and Kristi Lee, who is the news anchor. The show is a comedy variety show with significant interaction with its listeners. I got to hang out for about 90 minutes, watching the madness live.

Fire-Dex, manufacturer of fire fighting PPE unveiled its custom made Orange County Chopper (OCC), "Protection from the Heat of the Battle," at FDIC 2008. The chopper was driven into the exhibit hall by Paul Teutul, Sr. owner of OCC and star of the Discovery Channels hit show, American Chopper. He was warmly welcomed by a large crowd of firefighters and vendors.

(L to R) Deputy Chief Tom Aurnhammer of the Los Pinos Fire District, Dr. Harry Carter (retired Battalion Chief from the Newark Fire Department), and Chief Jack Peltier of the Massachusetts Fire Academy.

I also had the opportunity to attend the International Association of Arson Investigators Annual Training Conference in Denver, CO from April 27th through May 2nd, 2008. Upon my arrival, I ran into this gentleman. He is a singer of songs, warrior poet, connoisseur of fine wines, free-thinker, taker of the occasional sip of whiskey, and my friend, John Blaschik. Humor him; he also thinks he is the Fire Marshal for the State of Connecticut.
